MFL
At Grange Park our Key Stage 2 children learn French as their Modern Foreign Language. This is taught through the Rigolo programme. From Year 3 through to Year 6 the 'Rigolo' scheme of work follows 'la famille Mils' who are an English family living in France. Each half termly unit is sequenced and progressive in a way which aims to build on knowledge that has been gained in previous units.
Children have regular opportunities to learn and practise French through speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. During the children’s French lessons, they play language games, listen to stories, sing songs and practise their conversational skills. These give children the breadth of skills and experience outlined in the National Curriculum. Learning a Modern Foreign Language not only enriches the curriculum and prepares pupils to participate in an ever-changing, multi-lingual world but also can improve memory and brain function.
