School Uniform

At Grange Park, we have tried to keep our unform as simple and as easy to purchase as possible.  Children must wear the following:

Top Half:

  • A white or red polo shirt (plain or with the Grange Park Logo) or a plain white shirt or blouse.
  • A red jumper, cardigan or red fleece jacket (plain or with the Grange Park Logo).
  • A red and white check summer dress.

Bottom Half:

  • Grey or black trousers, a skirt or pinafore – leggings are not permitted.
  • Grey or black school shorts (not sportswear or cycling-type shorts) that are knee length.
  • Grey or black tights.
  • Socks.

Footwear:

  • Black school shoes – not black trainers.

School PE Kit

Having a change of clothes for P.E. is essential for both safety and hygiene reasons.  We ask that school PE kit is plain and free from branded logos. Our PE kit consists of:

Top Half:

  • A plain white or red t-shirt – no team kits, no coloured t-shirts, no vests, no patterned shirts, no t-shirts with large branding or writing on.
  • On cold days, a plain sweatshirt or hoody of any colour.

Bottom Half:

  • Plain black, blue or grey shorts.
  • Plain black, blue or grey jogging bottoms.

Footwear:

  • Trainers

Children must come to school in school uniform on PE days. If their PE session is in the morning, then they will have to change back into their school uniform after the session. If their PE session is after lunch, children will be allowed to remain in their PE kit for the remainder of the day and go home in it. Exceptions to this may be made by certain year groups, especially in EYFS and KS1 (Y1 and Y2) due to length of time it takes for the children to get dressed and undressed - this will be communicated by the class teacher.

Branded uniform with the school logo can be bought from Bakers and Sons in Wellington (http://www.bakerandsonschoolwear.co.uk/) or by visiting their shop in Wellington.

There is no expectation that children come to school wearing uniform with the Grange Park logo on. We are happy for children to wear unbranded clothing, as long as it matches the descriptions above. Plain red jumpers and cardigans and plain white or red polo shirts are just as smart and can be purchased from most supermarkets.

We also have second-hand uniform, which is available from the school directly throughout the year and each year a uniform swap shop takes place, where pre-used uniform/P.E kits/coats can be brought in and swapped for other sizes at zero cost.

We encourage parents/carers to inform us if there are financial issues affecting the purchase of uniform so we can assist and offer support.

Footwear

As above, children must wear black shoes - we do not allow trainers to be worn during the school day.

Haircuts

We appreciate that fashions in haircuts are constantly changing and schools have to cope with trend. However, we expect all students to follow these guidelines:

  • Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied up for both boys and girls.
  • Hair styles should not be extreme and should not be patterned or have extensions.
  • Hair should be a natural colour and therefore obvious dyeing of hair is not permitted.
  • Hair bands or bobbles should not be extreme in size.

Jewellery

On health and safety grounds, we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school with the exception of one single pair of small stud earrings.

  • Jewellery should not be worn to school - necklaces, bracelets, earrings (other than small studs, and rings are not permitted.
  • Inexpensive analogue or simple digital watches may be worn. However, Smart Watches and watches that could be disruptive in class are not permitted and will be confiscated if worn as described in our Online Safety Policy.
  • The school cannot take responsibility for the loss or damage of any valuable items and as such these should be left at home.
  • If a child wishes to have their ear(s) pierced, we ask that this be carried out at the beginning of the summer holiday, so that the healing process is complete by the time school starts again in September and the ear studs can be removed. Should you child have their ears pierced, earrings must be removed / taped over during P.E lessons. Unfortunately, staff cannot assist your child in removing their earrings.

Make Up

Make-up is not permitted for boys or girls.

Nails

Nails must not be painted and false nails are not permitted.

Children not wearing the correct uniform will be given spare uniform to change into and a reminder will be sent home.
